Flute: audition and classical music jobs

The flute is a woodwind instrument that can produce some of an orchestras highest notes. With all of their keys, flutes may appear intimidating, but learning to play is simple. Once you put the instrument together and perfect your embouchure, all you have to do is press the keys in order to change notes. With a bit of practice every day, you can learn how to play your flute well!
The flute is simple, and learning how to play the flute is an exciting experience. It doesn’t have so many keys, and it doesn’t require several accessories to use efficiently. All that is needed if you are learning how to play flute is discipline and effort.
This discipline and effort should not stop just in the instrument’s learning but should extend to its maintenance and handling. There is nothing more disappointing than a poorly maintained musical instrument. When starting, it’s better to get an intermediate-level instrument that is good for learning and can be maintained to be useful later on.
Most major cities have opportunities for flutists in pit orchestras, symphony positions, operas, chamber music, and musical theater. But, these positions can be competitive and because of that securing a seat will require skill, hustle, and drive.
Orchestra Audition: flute, job postings and listings

The qualifications you need to get a flute job range from being self-taught to having a formal education in flute or music theory. To teach in a public school, you need to have a bachelor’s degree and a license to teach. For private instruction, formal training is helpful, but it is not always necessary. A bachelor's degree in performance from a music conservatory or college is required to become a concert flutist, and you might also need a master's degree or years of performing experience. Excellent mechanical and analytical skills are necessary for flute repair.

Orchestra jobs

Breathe, breathe & breathe: breathing is very important for all flute players and you need to master the art of breathing well as well as breathing more. When you are playing a note at a consistent level, breathing plays a crucial role. Of course, you wouldn’t want running out of breath especially when you are trying out the notation that could charm your audience like never before. In order to practice breathing while playing, you can start holding your note for a longer period of time and ensure that your shoulder position is right, allowing more air inside your lungs every time you breathe in while playing.
Listen & Concentrate: because there is no better way to improve yourself than just listening and increasing your concentration to focus more. Listen to each and every note that you are playing, irrespective of the beat or notation that you are trying to match. Listen carefully, each and every move so that you can focus on it and change whenever required. Listening not only helps you get a better sense of music, sometimes, it just helps you know and understand your music better and the same is true with flute as well. The more you listen and focus, the better you would be able to play with time.
Start Low: one of the biggest mistakes made by flute players is that they try and strike a high note right off. And that right there is something even the professionals dare not try without hours of practice. So if you are trying to practice on high octaves or notes, start low. Starting low will also help you breathe more and ensure that your stance is correct when you begin. If you are seated while practising, you can still do it right by keeping an upright position. Starting low will also help you ensure that you are being consistent and are striking the notes in the right manner.

The flute is a family of classical music instrument in the woodwind group. Like all woodwinds, flutes are aerophones, meaning they make sound by vibrating a column of air. However, unlike woodwind instruments with reeds, a flute is a reedless wind instrument that produces its sound from the flow of air across an opening. According to the instrument classification of Hornbostel–Sachs, flutes are categorized as edge-blown aerophones. A musician who plays the flute is called a flautist or flutist. Flutes are the earliest known identifiable musical instruments, as paleolithic examples with hand-bored holes have been found.
