Principal Clarinet
TURKU PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA invites applications for the permanent position of PRINCIPAL CLARINET.
The audition will be held at Turku Concert Hall on Mon 2nd and Tue 3rd of June, 2025 starting at 10:00 (am).
Audition Repertoire
- W. A. Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A, K. 622, 1st and 2nd mvts
- C. Debussy: Première rhapsodie
- Orchestral excerpts that will be sent to selected candidates after the closing date.
A video pre-round will be arranged before the audition. The audition may also include an interview (in Finnish or in English).
Applications
The closing date for the applications is Sunday 20th of April 2025 at midnight, 24:00 PM (GMT+2 Finnish time). For applying, please fill in the online application form available on Musicalchairs.
Please include in the application a link to a video, which includes applicant’s performance of the following excerpts:
- W. A. Mozart: Clarinet Concerto, 1st mvt bars 57-154, without piano accompaniment
- J. Sibelius: Symphony No. 1, 1st mvt from the beginning until bar 32 and 3rd mvt from reh. letter F to H

Instructions for making the video
The video must be recorded with one camera and the player and the instrument in the picture throughout. The video including whole pre-round program should be filmed without cuts in one entirety in the order listed above. It is allowed to warm the Bb clarinet (without sound) before playing the second excerpt. The orchestra tunes in 442.
Post-processing of the sound and/or picture is prohibited. A reasonable quality should be aimed at. Please upload your video via your Musicalchairs application. Applications or video materials sent by e-mail will not be taken into consideration. Feedback on the videos is not given.
