The Lumbye Academy is the orchestra academy of Copenhagen Phil, established in October 2022. The academy has already seen strong results, with academists winning auditions and competitions both nationally and internationally.
The two-year programme is designed for advanced music students or young professionals (minimum bachelor’s degree required) who wish to gain orchestral experience and receive support in the audition process.
The programme includes:
· Performances with Copenhagen Phil
· Masterclasses and workshops
· Audition training, mental coaching, and body awareness
· Chamber music concerts
Selected candidates will be invited to audition in Copenhagen approximately one month before the audition date.
All EU citizens are encouraged to apply regardless of religious, cultural, or social background, or sexual orientation.
Salary
Participants receive a salary in accordance with Danish assistant-level orchestral standards.
Exchange programme
The programme includes a mandatory exchange with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.
Language requirements
Danish language skills are not required upon entry. However, as communication with audiences is an important part of the programme, participants are expected to be willing to learn Danish and achieve a basic level during the programme.
All expenses related to the application and audition process must be covered by the applicant.
