Employment with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, following a probationary year, will be in a permanent position. For this position, we are seeking an outstanding musical personality capable of undertaking the role of Principal Cello (m/f/d) in one of Germany's most traditional and oldest concert orchestras. The audition will take place in our concert hall, the historic Weinbrennersaal in the Kurhaus Baden-Baden. You can expect a highly motivated orchestra with an exciting concert program, both in our own hall and regularly in renowned venues such as the KKL Lucerne, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Isarphilharmonie Munich, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and many others. Since 2022, the Artistic Direction has been under our Chief Conductor Heiko Mathias Förster.
The audition begins on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden and will continue on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. The first day is planned as a preliminary audition. Therefore, please keep both days free.
We will send out the first invitations after reviewing applications starting Monday, November 2, 2026.
In addition to the usual rounds, we plan a chamber music session with the Bénazet Quartet, a string quartet composed of members of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.
