The NFM Wrocław Philharmonic announces auditions for the cello section. They will take place on 27 April 2026 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław (NFM), pl. Wolności 1. They will be preceded by a preselection based on video recordings, which should be submitted with applications via the muvac.com platform by 6 April 2026.
Stage I
Candidates will be asked to play the following repertoire:
J. Haydn Concerto in D major, Hob. VIIb:2, Op. 101, 1st movement with cadenza (exposition),
- selected fragments from the attached list of orchestral studies*.
Stage II
- selected fragments from the attached list of orchestral studies*.
Stage III
Collaboration with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic on two concerts proposed by the National Forum of Music.

NFM Wrocław Philharmonic is one of the leading symphony orchestras on the Polish music scene, a resident ensemble of the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, Poland. In recent years, the orchestra was conducted by, among others Jacek Kaspszyk, Benjamin Shwartz, Giovanni Antonini, Andrzej Boreyko, Philippe Herreweghe, Tõnu Kaljuste, Paul McCreesh, Eiji Oue, Krzysztof Penderecki, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Lawrence Foster, Michael Schønwandt, Dima Slobodeniouk, Gilbert Varga, Mario Venzago and Antoni Witago. Since the 2017/2018 season, its artistic director has been Giancarlo Guerrero.
The orchestra collaborates with acclaimed soloists, such as Piotr Anderszewski, Yulianna Avdeeva, Radek Baborák, Seong-Jin Cho, Boris Giltburg, Kevin Kenner, Mariusz Kwiecień, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Jan Lisiecki, Marcin Masecki, Midori, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Garrick Ohlsson, Julian Rachlin, Sondra Radvanovsky, Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, István Várdai, and Janusz Wawrowski.
The NFM Wrocław Philharmonic performs regularly in leading concert halls around the world. It gained special recognition in the symphonic repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries, and regularly performs compositions commissioned by the National Forum of Music. They include works by, among others, Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, Elżbieta Sikora and Paweł Mykietyn.
The orchestra boasts an extensive phonographic catalogue. Its album with Arvo Pärt’s symphonies, recorded under the baton of Tõnu Kaljuste (ECM), won the International Classical Music Award in 2019. The album Hector Berlioz – Grande Messe des Morts 1837, recorded under the direction of Paul McCreesh was awarded by the BBC Music Magazine in 2012 in the “Technical Excellence” category. In Poland, the orchestra received a Fryderyk 2011 (Witold Lutosławski. Opera omnia: Symphonies No. 2 and 4, conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk) and numerous nominations for this award.
In 2021, an album of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic –recorded with Bomsori Kim conducted by Giancarla Guerrero – was released on the Deutsche Grammophon label. Starting from 2024 The Artistic DIrector of the orchestra is Christoph Eschenbach.
