THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC Announces the following vacancy: PRINCIPAL CELLO All candidates have the choice of playing a live preliminary audition in New York or sending a recording of your preliminary audition. The repertoire is the same for both options. You will be asked to indicate your preference between a live or recorded preliminary audition when submitting your application. Due to the limited availability of David Geffen Hall, some applicants who wish to play a live preliminary audition may be asked to submit a recorded audition. If we cannot accommodate a live audition, we will notify you by Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Application Deadline: Monday, February 23, 2026 Deadline to Submit Recorded Preliminary Audition: Tuesday, April 7, 2026 Live Preliminary Auditions: Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25, 2026 Semi-Final Auditions: Sunday, April 26, 2026 Final Auditions: Friday, May 1, 2026 Employment will commence by mutual agreement based upon the winning candidate’s availability and the New York Philharmonic schedule.
