Piano Class | Juilliard Extension United States | New York Posted 07 Jan 2026 Courses Piano In this class, students explore classical piano technique, style, interpretation, memorization, and performance practice in a master-class group setting. Each section of this class is limited to four students. Active listening, discussion, and attention are critical elements of group piano classes. Informal performances are given throughout the semester, and department-wide seminars featuring guest experts and master teachers round out the learning experience. Students are placed according to playing ability and potential to contribute to and enhance a positive group learning dynamic. Pre-requisites: A basic knowledge of rhythmic values (i.e. whole note, half note, quarter note, eighth note, etc.) and the ability to sight-read at the piano in both treble and bass clefs with both hands playing together. Placement application required unless pre-approved to enroll.
