Monteux School & Music Festival United States | Hancock Posted 10 Oct 2025 Courses Harp The Monteux School & Music Festival trains conductors in orchestral conducting and trains instrumentalists to meet the many demands of orchestral playing. We offer an unrivaled opportunity to learn a large and varied repertoire during the six-week program. Conductors are required to play in the orchestra and learn from both sides of the podium, while instrumentalists learn the music in exacting detail. We accept up to 18 conductors and 45 instrumentalists to comprise a full-orchestra. The school’s rigorous weekly schedule -- equivalent to that of a full-time orchestra -- prepares musicians for a professional career. Each week’s schedule includes seven on-stage symphony rehearsals and a public symphony concert led by student conductors each Sunday evening. Chamber Music Concerts for smaller ensembles are scheduled on Wednesdays and offer additional performance opportunities each Wednesday night.
