Centre for Young Musicians (CYM) - a division of the Guildhall school Jazz Ensembles Tutor We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Jazz Ensembles Tutor with an enthusiastic and inclusive approach to educating young musicians. The Jazz Ensembles Tutor will lead multiple mixed-instrument jazz ensembles tailored to students of varying abilities and experience levels, with a strong focus on improvisation. They will be proficient at selecting music for ensembles and creating written, adapted, and/or real-time arrangements with students in response to need. The experiences they deliver will enhance students’ practical and theoretical understanding of diverse jazz styles, conventions and techniques. Our music centre is based at Morley College, near London Waterloo, and teaching takes place on 10 Saturdays per term. The role currently involves working with three ensembles between 2pm and 5pm. CYM offers music provision to talented young people from all backgrounds in a thriving musical environment. As a Centre for Advanced Training under the Department for Education’s National Grant for Music and Dance, CYM is a key provider of instrumental, vocal and ensemble tuition in London. Our Saturday school and holiday courses offer a sustained and progressive route from the early stages of learning through to music college entrance. Children start on our primary years programme (age 5 upwards) progressing to the full programme (aged 8 to 18). Interviews will take place on Friday 29th August with a start date of Saturday 20th September 2025.
