The Orchestra:
The Orchestra's mission is to bring the symphonic repertoire to life throughout the Île-de-France region and make it accessible to all.
Created in 1974, the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France is funded by the Île-de-France Regional Council and the Ministry of Culture. Comprising 95 permanent musicians based at the Philharmonie de Paris, the orchestra gives around 100 concerts each season throughout the region, offering the people of Île-de-France a rich repertoire spanning four centuries of music. The orchestra's educational and cultural activities also include outreach initiatives throughout the Île-de-France region and a season of concerts tailored to all audiences.
In September 2019, Case Scaglione succeeded Enrique Mazzola as musical director and principal conductor. Since 2018, the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France has had its own recording studio specialising in symphonic music and film scores. It also has its own instrument library, whose mission is to facilitate musical events in the Île-de-France region.
