We are offering two one-year academy positions (50% each) with the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI). The two positions will be filled in two of the following instrumental sections: Violin tutti (I or II) or Cello tutti.
The Orchestra della Svizzera italiana has been active for years in promoting young talent. With this in mind, we would like to offer a young student the opportunity to have a period of practice alongside OSI's professional musicians. The activity takes place primarily at the two main venues (the Auditorio Stelio Molo in Besso and the Sala Teatro at the LAC in Lugano), but also on transfers in Ticino, Switzerland and abroad. Degree of employment: approximately 50% of the productions, corresponding to about 140 orchestral services

What we offer

Conditions for admission
·  Being enrolled at a Swiss conservatoire
-> Alternatively, being enrolled at a non-Swiss conservatoire and be a Swiss citizen
·  Have a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance or equivalent, or be enrolled in the same
·  Not yet 28 years of age
Selection procedure
·  Admission to the audition on the basis of the documentation submitted
·  Audition with a jury composed of the relevant section leaders and the Artistic Director
·  Interview with the Management
·  The commencement of the academy period is subject to the issue of the relevant work permit by the competent authorities

For Swiss citizens or holders of a C permit: no additional permit is required.
For citizens of an EU/EFTA member state holding a B residence permit for education/training purposes: written confirmation from the educational institution stating that the current course of study includes a mandatory period of professional training/internship. This confirmation is required for the issuance of the training permit (which may have been issued by another canton), together with authorization to work.
