Youth Music Culture The Greater Bay Area China | Guangzhou Posted 22 Aug 2025 Courses Clarinet Youth Music Culture The Greater Bay Area (“YMCG”) is an annual cultural and artistic event approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and presented by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It was initiated and founded by conductor Long Yu, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Artistic Committee. The Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra acts as the main organizer each year, responsible for overall coordination and execution, while the Xinghai Concert Hall has been a founding partner in the project since its inception. The year 2026 marks the YMCG’s tenth edition. YMCG was formerly known as “Youth Music Culture Guangdong” (2017–2022), with cellist Yo-Yo Ma serving as Artistic Director and conductor Michael Stern as Music Director. In 2023, it was upgraded to Youth Music Culture The Greater Bay Area, with conductor Daniel Harding serving as Music Director.
