Calling All Cellists! Applications Now Open for Classic Cello 2026!
The Classic Cello International Competition will land in London’s iconic Royal College of Music from the 26th of March to the 6th of April 2026, with 40 of the finest young cellists from around the globe set to compete for over €130,000 in prizes, including a stunning €50,000 First Prize and a two-year loan of a professional-grade cello provided by Florian Leonhard.
Presided over by Artistic Director Alexander Chaushian, Classic Cello 2026 is open to talented performers of all nationalities aged 40 and under, and offers a unique platform to launch international careers, with finalists being judged by a distinguished 11-member jury including Chaushian himself, as well as Julian Lloyd Webber (UK), Dorran Alibaud (France), Deborah Borda (USA), Angela Dixon (UK), Kathryn Enticott (UK), Michael Haefliger (Switzerland), Ursula Haselböck (Austria), Paul Hughes (UK), Florian Leonhard (UK), and James Williams (UK).
With a repertoire including works by Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Shostakovich, and Composer-in-Residence Alexey Shor, this competition is set to become one of the must-watch events in the classical music world.
