The director of development of music events is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and directing programs: membership, annual fund, planned giving, fundraising events, corporate giving, major gifts, foundations. The employee will work closely with the Executive Director of Music, to whom they will report, and involve the board of directors in all fundraising-related activities. The DOD will conceptualize and implement Symphony’s yearly development plan which supports the operations, masterworks concerts, chamber music concerts, music extras, music education, and community outreach initiatives.
As a leading role within the organization, the DOD will interact frequently with all segments community to establish beneficial relationships. The employee will be involved with all aspects of donor relationship management in order to achieve yearly fundraising goals and create awareness for the programs. In addition, the DOD will manage the Development & Special Events Coordinator and Development Assistant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Music and board to develop and implement long- and short-term fundraising strategies to meet and/or exceed annual fundraising goals Create a development plan that will maximize contributions from individuals, foundations, businesses, and the government, as well as devise, carry out, and manage a comprehensive fundraising program.
Lead, coordinate, and manage the development team to expand income from the music membership program, annual fund, planned giving, fundraising music events, corporate giving, major gifts, foundations in order to reach annual goals
Assist the ED with driving fundraising activities and personally engage with top music prospects
Actively engage the board in all fundraising activities and personally educate each member on how to best cultivate, solicit, and steward their network
Meet and contact prospective donors (current, lapsed, and potential) on a continual basis – including individuals, music foundations, and corporate partners
Manage the music organization’s list of prospects – developing and executing cultivation plans and solicitation strategies
Regularly attend donor music events, social functions, professional networking events, and community events.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and minimum of five years of development experiences – with leadership responsibilities preferred. A bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably with a background in the arts. Knowledge of the performing arts preferred.
Preferences/Additional Assets
A degree in music and/or arts administration
Professional affiliations and certifications such as CFRE
Knowledge of the symphony orchestra field

The director of development of music events must have a proven track record of success securing new revenue and an ability to ensure proper goal setting, oversight, and should has these kinds of skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills
Music Knowledge.
Ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and data

Ability to collaborate creatively and work effectively with internal and external partners
Ability to determine project urgency in a meaningful and practical way

In service to the above, the Director of Development must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. They must have thorough knowledge of fundraising prospecting and cultivation, donor tracking systems, strategic communications, and proposal preparation, and they must have the willingness and ability to step in as needed to ensure the completion of all development processes.
The position requires an individual who is knowledgeable and committed to the arts and music, and experience leading a complex, diverse development program.

Development Process Coordinator

Responsibilities:
Perform data entry of gifts and pledges, reviewing constituent records for accuracy and completion and ensuring proper paperwork is shared and filed. Prepare daily deposits. Prepare donor acknowledgments and pledge reminders on a weekly basis. Generate individual donor statements as requested Bachelors Degree preferred. Skills:
Minimum two years experience in data entry and customer service. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills Experience with Windows based applications and donor databases.
